Our purpose is to provide teachers with educational materials and resources to integrate nutrition and health into core subjects and encouraging instructional strategies to improve healthy behaviors while improving academic performance.
We strive to improve the health of our community by collaborating with teachers to increase the nutrition education in classrooms by using research-based, pilot-tested curricula that has been correlated to the California Content Standards.
The objectives of our program include:
- Increasing consumption of all five food groups with an emphasis on whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and lean meats at every meal.
- Increasing physical activity among children to 60 minutes every day.
- Increasing awareness in our community about the importance of proper nutrition and physical activity on lifelong health.
